In the summer of 2024, the podcast series The Master: Allegations Against Neil Gaiman by the British media outlet Tortoise first outlined five allegations of sexual assault. But a new investigation by Vulture has included four more allegations, after reviewing texts, diary entries, emails with friends, and police reports. According to the publication, the youngest alleged victim was 18 years old, but most of the female victims were around 20 years old. At the time, Gaiman was 40 years old or older, except for one case, when the victim claims that the writer forcibly kissed her in 1986, when he was 25 years old.

Some of the victims were fans of the writer’s talent, and some worked with him. One of the plaintiffs, Scarlett Pavlovich, claims that she began working as a nanny for the writer’s second wife, Amanda Palmer, in 2022. And it was at this moment that the writer attacked her in the bathroom. Gaiman brutally raped the woman several times, calling her a slave, at some points she even lost consciousness from pain. Scarlett adds that sometimes the writer’s son witnessed these scenes.

The woman told Amanda everything. She, in turn, told her husband to seek counseling from a psychologist, but he did not go to him. The writer’s representatives claim that all sexual contacts, including elements of BDSM, were consensual. At the same time, after the scandal, some projects associated with Gaiman were suspended or reduced.
