Queen Camilla has fallen seriously ill and has cancelled a number of public appearances. According to the Daily Mail, Her Majesty has a “severe chest infection.” She is currently recovering at her home in Wiltshire and is being monitored by doctors.
Buckingham Palace officially confirmed the Queen’s illness and wrote the following:
“Her Majesty The Queen is currently unwell with a chest infection, for which her doctors have advised her to take a short period of rest.
It is with great regret that Her Majesty has had to cancel her engagements this week but she very much hopes to recover in time to attend Remembrance events this weekend as usual. She apologises to anyone who may be worried or disappointed as a result.”
In particular, Queen Camilla will not be able to attend the Olympic reception and the annual opening of the Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey, which is scheduled for November 7. She will be replaced at the event by the 78-year-old Duchess of Gloucester. King Charles III will not miss the events and will attend them accompanied by his sister Princess Anne.
