American actor Tony Sirico has died at the age of 79. He is best known for playing Paulie “Walnuts” Gualtieri on The Sopranos.
According to TMZ, citing the actor’s manager Bob McGowan, the actor passed away on Friday, July 8, at a nursing home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The cause of death was not disclosed. But it is known that the last few years, Tony Sirico suffered from dementia.
For participation in the film “The Sopranos”, the actor received two awards from the Screen Actors Guild. He is also famous for voicing animated hits, including: “Family Guy”, “American Dad”. Siriko also played in the films “Gotti” and “Glorious Boys”.
Tony Sirico grew up in Brooklyn. Before starting his acting career, he was arrested many times, including for robberies and assaults. He spent about 20 months behind bars.
The actor is also a veteran, he helped wounded soldiers, supported several charitable organizations. He left two children – Richard and Joanna, there are brothers, sisters and grandchildren.
