Singer R Kelly, winner of three Grammy awards, performer of the hit I Believe I Can Fly, was sentenced to 30 years in prison. But following a sex trafficking trial, new details about the artist’s personal life have surfaced, according to E! News.

As it became known from a letter to the judge dated June 13, R Kelly is engaged to aspiring singer Joycelyn Savage. She revealed that she was engaged to an R&B artist and asked the court for a lighter sentence.

The woman in the letter noted that she was writing it in support of the artist. She wrote that she wanted to explain to the court that she was not the victim the government had portrayed her as. The woman also described her relationship with Kelly as amazing and the best she ever had.

Savage said that she has a deep connection with the rapper, they are in love with each other. She also said that Robert is not at all such a monster as the government presented him. She knows him as a sweet, gentle and kind person. The words that he held women against their will are not true. She was also deeply offended that the government made her look like a victim.

Recall that the trial of Ar Kelly caused a great resonance. Dozens of witnesses testified, accusing the artist of taking underage girls into sexual slavery. The episodes took place at least from 1992 to 2017.

R Kelly himself denied any charges, but was still sentenced on June 29 to 30 years in prison. He also received 5 years of parole and must pay a $100,000 fine.
