Ingredients (for 4 servings)
- Pasta (macaroni, spaghetti or penne) – 300 g
- Minced meat (beef, pork or mixed) – 300 g
- Onion – 1 pc.
- Garlic – 2 cloves
- Tomato paste – 2 tbsp.
- Vegetable oil – 2 tbsp.
- Salt, pepper, spices (oregano, basil) – to taste
For the béchamel sauce:
- Milk – 500 ml
- Flour – 2 tbsp
- Butter – 30 g
- Nutmeg (ground) – a pinch
- Cheese (optional) – 50 g (grated)
Step-by-step preparation of pasta with minced meat and béchamel sauce
- Chop the onion into small cubes and chop the garlic.
- Heat the frying pan with vegetable oil, fry the onion until soft. Add the garlic and cook for another 1 minute.
- Put the minced meat in the frying pan, fry, constantly breaking up the lumps, until done. Add the tomato paste, spices, stir and simmer for 5-7 minutes.
- Melt the butter in a saucepan. Gradually add the flour, stirring constantly with a whisk to avoid lumps. Fry the flour for 1-2 minutes. Pour in the milk in a thin stream, continuing to stir. Cook over medium heat until the sauce thickens.
- Add a pinch of nutmeg and, if desired, grated cheese to make the sauce even richer.
- Bring the water to the boil in a large saucepan, add salt. Cook the pasta until al dente (follow the instructions on the package). Drain the pasta in a colander.
- Place half of the pasta in a baking dish. Spread the mince evenly on top.
- Pour some of the béchamel sauce over it. Repeat the layers (pasta, mince, sauce). Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C. Place the dish with the pasta in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, until the cheese is golden brown.
