Air dough, golden color, irresistible aroma and taste – these are real Belgian waffles. You can enjoy them not only for breakfast, but also as a salty snack or a great dessert. Proper Belgian waffles should be thin and rectangular in shape, with a crispy surface and soft inside. The only drawback is that you can’t do without a special waffle iron. Classic Belgian waffles

  • 100 g of butter;
  • 200 ml of milk;
  • 2 eggs;
  • 100 g of powdered sugar;
  • 150 g flour;
  • 1 tsp baking powder;
  • a pinch of salt;
  • vegetable oil for greasing the mold.


In a bowl, mix dry ingredients – flour, baking powder, powdered sugar, salt. Separate the whites from the yolks and beat the whites to peaks. Add milk, melted butter and egg yolks to dry ingredients and knead into a dough. At the end, add whipped egg whites. Pour the finished dough into a waffle iron and bake for about 5 minutes. Belgian waffles can be served with fruit, whipped cream, nutella, marmalade, honey, or simply sprinkled with powdered sugar.

  • 250 g flour;
  • 3 eggs;
  • 400 ml of milk;
  • 125 g melted butter;
  • 15 g of pressed yeast;
  • a pinch of salt;
  • 1 pack of vanilla sugar;
  • oil for greasing the mold.

Step by step recipe

  1. We make a dough. Pour 100 ml of milk into a bowl, heat it in the microwave until it is warm and crumble the yeast into it. Mix well and let the yeast rise – about 10 minutes.
  2. Take a large bowl and mix most of the ingredients – egg yolks, flour, remaining milk, melted butter, vanilla sugar and salt. Pour the broth into this mixture.
  3. Beat the egg whites until frothy and gently fold into the batter.
  4. Cover a large bowl with a kitchen towel and let the dough rise in a warm place. Within an hour, the dough should double in size.
  5. Heat up the waffle iron and grease it with vegetable oil. Pour the batter onto the stove with a small ladle and close the lid. If possible, turn the waffle iron over so that the dough spreads evenly.
  6. Waffles should be baked until steam starts to come out. Brussels waffles should turn golden brown in a few minutes.

  • 100 g butter;
  • 3 eggs;
  • 0.5 tsp salt;
  • 250 g flour;
  • 0.5 tsp baking powder;
  • 100 g of hard cheese;
  • 5 slices of ham;
  • 200 ml of kefir;
  • parsley, green onions – on a branch;
  • oil for greasing the mold.

Step by step recipe

  1. Put softened butter in a bowl, add eggs, salt and beat with a hand whisk until foam forms.
  2. Sift the flour, mix it with the baking powder and, together with kefir, combine with the egg-butter mixture.
  3. Finely grate the cheese, cut the ham into small cubes, finely chop the parsley and green onions and add everything to the dough.
  4. Preheat the waffle iron, lightly grease it with vegetable oil and bake waffles on it. Garnish with a slice of ham, cheese and tomato.

Of course, the ideal assistant for making waffles is a waffle iron. It is enough to warm it up, grease it with vegetable oil, and bake the selected type of waffles from the prepared dough. Silicone waffle molds, which are available in a range of shapes and sizes, are oven-friendly.

If we do not have a waffle iron or a silicone mold, you can use a grill pan. Thanks to the ribbed inner surface, you can easily make a typical mesh on a waffle.

The most important thing is that the waffle iron, frying pan or oven (in the case of baking in a silicone mold) is hot enough. Waffles are cooked for about 4 minutes in a waffle iron and in a pan. Bake them in an oven preheated to 200 ° C for about 10-15 minutes.
