Surely, every housewife has her own Easter cake recipe. It is baked with raisins, dried apricots, nuts and other fillings. One of the most popular is Easter cake with poppy seeds, which has a delicate and very sweet taste. We at joy-pup tell you how to make Easter cake with poppy seeds.
Ingredients:
- 500 g flour
- 100 g butter
- 100 g sugar
- 200 ml milk
- 7 g dry yeast
- 2 eggs
- 100 g raisins
- 50 g poppy seeds
- A pinch of salt
- Powdered sugar for sprinkling
- Condensed milk
Step-by-step preparation of Easter cake with poppy seeds
- Soak the poppy seeds in a small amount of boiling water for 30 minutes. Then place in a sieve to remove excess moisture. Heat the milk and dissolve the yeast in it.
- In a deep bowl, mix flour, sugar and salt. Add softened butter and eggs to the flour, then gradually pour warm milk and yeast into the dough. Knead the dough until smooth. Then add raisins and poppy seeds, mix well.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead it gently until it becomes elastic and no longer sticks to your hands. Form it into a ball, put it in a bowl, cover with a napkin and leave for 1-1.5 hours to rise.
- After the dough has doubled in size, carefully cut it into several pieces and place it in a cake pan, previously greased or covered with parchment. Leave the cakes for another 30 minutes. Then bake in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for about 40-50 minutes or until golden brown. Check for doneness by inserting a wooden skewer into the center of the cake – if it comes out clean, the cake is ready.
After baking, cool the cake to room temperature and then sprinkle it with powdered sugar. If desired, decorate the cake with glaze or pour condensed milk.
