Ingredients:

  • 4 teaspoons miso paste
  • 4 glasses of water
  • 1 large daikon
  • 2 large green onions
  • 100 g hard tofu cheese
  • 1 sheet of nori seaweed
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • Chili peppers, chopped (for added flavor)

Step-by-step preparation of miso soup with daikon

  • Peel the daikon and cut it into thin slices. Cut the tofu into cubes and the green onions into thin slices. Cut the nori sheet into small pieces.
  • In a large saucepan, bring water to a boil. Add the daikon and cook over medium heat for about 10-15 minutes until the daikon is soft.
  • In a separate bowl, stir the miso paste with a little hot water to form a smooth paste. Add the miso paste to the saucepan with the daikon and stir gently.
  • Add tofu cubes, onion, soy sauce and sesame oil to taste. Add salt and season to taste.
  • Continue to simmer the soup over medium heat for about 5 minutes more to warm through all the ingredients and let the flavors meld.
  • Pour the soup into deep bowls and top with pieces of nori and sesame seeds.
