Cabbage rolls with minced meat and rice
For these classic cabbage rolls, you will need:
- 1 large head of cabbage
- 500 g minced meat (beef, pork or a mixture of both)
- 1/2 cup rice
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 cup beef broth
- Salt and pepper to taste
Step by step preparation:
- Wash the cabbage and remove the hard core. Then dip a whole head of cabbage into boiling salted water and cook for 5-7 minutes until the leaves become soft. Cool and carefully separate the leaves.
- In a large bowl, mix the minced meat, rice, onion, garlic, salt and pepper. Mix well so that all ingredients are evenly distributed.
- Place a portion of minced meat on each cabbage leaf and carefully wrap, first bending the side edges, and then rolling into rolls.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan. Fry the cabbage rolls on all sides until they turn golden.
- In a bowl, dissolve the tomato paste in the beef broth and stir to combine. Pour the stuffed cabbage with the resulting sauce.
- Cook the cabbage rolls over medium heat, covered, for about 45-60 minutes, until the cabbage is soft and the stuffing is cooked through.
Cabbage rolls with cottage cheese and spinach
These are unusual cabbage rolls that will delight you with their special taste. Ingredients:
- 1 large head of cabbage
- 500 g cottage cheese
- 200 g fresh spinach, chopped
- 1 egg
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
Step by step preparation:
- Wash the cabbage and remove the hard core. Then dip a whole head of cabbage into boiling salted water and cook for 5-7 minutes until the leaves become soft. Cool and carefully separate the leaves.
- In a large bowl, combine cottage cheese, chopped spinach, egg, onion, garlic, salt and pepper. Mix well so that all ingredients are evenly distributed.
- Place a portion of the cottage cheese and spinach filling on each cabbage leaf and carefully roll up, first folding the side edges and then rolling into rolls.
- Heat the butter in a large saucepan or deep frying pan. Fry the cabbage rolls over medium heat on all sides until golden brown.
- Add a small amount of water or vegetable broth to the pot to lift the cabbage rolls. Cover them with a lid and cook over low heat for about 20-30 minutes, until the cabbage rolls are soft and the filling is cooked through.
Cabbage rolls with salmon and mashed potatoes
Try to cook such delicious cabbage rolls. Instead of meat, use fish for them. Ingredients:
- 1 large head of cabbage
- 500 g salmon fillet, cut into small pieces
- 500 g potatoes, peeled and diced
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 cup milk
- Juice of half a lemon
- Salt and pepper to taste
Step by step preparation:
- Prepare the cabbage as above, separating the leaves from the head.
- Heat oil in a deep skillet and sauté onion and garlic until translucent. Add potato cubes and cook until soft.
- Boil cabbage leaves in boiling salted water until tender, about 3-5 minutes. Then let them cool and carefully peel them off.
- In a bowl, mix the chopped salmon, salt, pepper, and lemon juice. Place a portion of the salmon filling on each cabbage leaf and carefully wrap into rolls.
- Mashed Potatoes: Chop the onion and garlic potatoes with a fork or crush the potatoes with a fork, add milk and butter, then mix well until smooth. Add salt and pepper to taste if necessary.
- Heat a small amount of butter in a large saucepan or deep frying pan. Fry the cabbage rolls on all sides until golden brown.
- Arrange the cabbage rolls on a layer of mashed potatoes in a pot or pan. Add a small amount of water or fish broth to lift the cabbage rolls. Cover and cook over low heat for about 20-30 minutes, until the cabbage is soft and the salmon is cooked through.
