How to make a side dish with bulgur
This porridge goes well with any salad, fish or meat. But it will be tasty only if it is prepared correctly.
Step by step preparation:
- Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Add onion and cook until soft, about 4 minutes.
- Reduce heat to high, add bulgur and cook, stirring frequently, until all grains are golden brown and nutty, about 5 minutes.
- Add salt and pepper. Remove from heat and add butter, stir until melted before serving.
How to cook bulgur with meat
This hearty dish will be a great choice on the table. It is very easy to cook it.
- Bulgur (1 cup)
- Beef (300 g)
- Onion (1 pc)
- Tomato puree (3 tablespoons)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil (1 tablespoon)
Cooking:
- Start by brewing the bulgur. Pour water into a saucepan, add salt and a glass of bulgur. Cook over medium heat until done.
- Add oil to a saucepan and add onion. Simmer until soft.
- Add meat and simmer until done. Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Stir in tomato puree.
- Add to the saucepan with the already cooked bulgur and cook everything together until tender.
How to cook bulgur with vegetables
You can use a variety of vegetables as per your taste. We offer one of the simplest dishes.
Ingredients:
- Bulgur
- Butter
- Onion
- Carrot
- Celery
- Dried herbs
- Salt
Step by step preparation:
- Rinse the bulgur under cold water to remove excess starch, then strain well.
- Heat oil in a medium sized saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until translucent, about 6 minutes. Add carrots and celery, add dried herbs and stir for 1 more minute.
- Add bulgur to the pot and cook until tender, about 2-3 minutes, then add boiling water and salt if needed for desired consistency, cover and reduce heat to a boil until all liquid is absorbed, which will take about 15 minutes.
Serve with any sauce or Greek yogurt!
