American actress, 36-year-old Amber Heard, is filing an appeal and intends to sue 59-year-old Johnny Depp again. According to Vanity Fair, the appeal is based on 16 points and is filed against the decision of the Virginia court, which found her guilty of defaming her ex-husband.
The grounds of the appeal included the following points: the lack of clear and convincing evidence of actual malice, the standard by which defamation cases are decided, the refusal of the trial court to invalidate the damages that the jury awarded after it. Several points concern evidence that was accepted but should not be, and evidence that was not accepted but is not important. Including the evidence provided by medical workers, correspondence between friends, employees, family.
Some of the grounds that were included in the appeal were mentioned in court and in interviews by Amber Heard’s lawyer Elaine Bredehoft. She was credited with a secret sympathy for Johnny Depp.
In August, the actress broke off cooperation with a lawyer and hired another team.
In addition to the appeal, Amber Heard wants to sue to force several insurance companies to cover her legal costs. Their amount may exceed $15 million.
