Classic tomato sauce
Ingredients:
- 800 g tomatoes (fresh are best)
- 2 tbsp. spoons of olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
Step-by-step preparation:
- Cut the tomatoes into cubes. Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and garlic and cook until soft, about 5 minutes.
- Add tomatoes, sugar, salt, pepper, basil and oregano. Stir and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer the sauce for about 30-40 minutes until it thickens.
- Pour the sauce into a blender and blend until smooth.
Vegetable tomato sauce
Ingredients:
- 800 g tomatoes (canned are best)
- 2 tbsp. spoons of olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 carrot, diced
- 1 red pepper, diced
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
Step-by-step preparation:
- If using canned tomatoes, puree them in a blender.
- Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and garlic and cook until soft, about 5 minutes.
- Add carrots and peppers, fry for another 5 minutes.
- Add tomatoes, sugar, salt, pepper, basil and oregano. Stir and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer the sauce for about 30-40 minutes until it thickens.
Creamy tomato sauce
Ingredients:
- 800 g tomatoes (canned or fresh)
- 2 tbsp. spoons of olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 glass of cream (fat content 10-20%)
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
Step-by-step preparation:
- If using fresh tomatoes, cut them into cubes. If using canned tomatoes, puree them in a blender.
- Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and garlic and cook until soft, about 5 minutes.
- Add the tomatoes and cook them for 10 minutes over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
- Add cream, sugar, salt, pepper, basil and oregano. Stir and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer the sauce for another 10-15 minutes until it thickens and has a richer flavor.
